You can bake the loaf a couple of days in advance and finish with cream cheese frosting just before serving.   1. Combine all the dry ingredients, flour,baking soda and cocoa powder.

  6. Add half of the dry ingredients.
  7. Add the butter milk.
  8. Add the remaining dry ingredients.
  9. Pour the batter into a greased baking pan and bake.
  10. Out of the oven,allow it to cool and garnish with whipped cream, chopped strawberries and almond's.

Red velvet cake has a subtle chocolate flavour and a slight tang from the buttermilk.
